Interactive Science Lab:
Photosynthesis & Plant Biology
Tools Used: Gemini AI, Canva (flower image), and AWS3.
Project Overview: This interactive, gamified learning module is designed for 5th-grade science students to master plant biology, cellular processes, and the growth lifecycle through hands-on digital exploration. Learners navigate through multi-tab lab activities where every decision and interaction deepens their understanding of how plants produce energy and sustain ecosystems in a risk-free, engaging digital environment.
I designed and developed the experience as a responsive web module, combining custom retro-gamified UI components, interactive labeled diagrams, dynamic physics/biology simulators, and formative assessments. Learners complete structured milestone activities—ranging from botanical anatomy inspection to a multi-stage lifecycle timeline—to reinforce scientific concepts and skill application.
Project Highlights:
Interactive Plant Anatomy Graphic: Hotspot-driven exploration featuring tailored, descriptive popups to inspect roots, stems, leaves, and flowers with real-time exploration tracking.
Horizontal Lifecycle Timeline: Step-by-step interactive timeline tracking seed germination to flowering reproduction, complete with directional navigation controls.
Photosynthesis Energy Simulator: Real-time calculator allowing students to adjust sunlight exposure and water volume to instantly simulate and calculate daily oxygen output and plant growth rates.
Interactive Review & Assessment: Fill-in-the-blank passage checks with dynamic dropdown selectors, instant green/red visual indicators, and celebratory local confetti reinforcement.
Custom Responsive UI: Built with clean, accessible HTML/CSS/JavaScript featuring kid-friendly green and white branding, high-contrast focus states, and smooth multi-device layout scaling.
